– A new genre is born! CaboCubaJazz combines Cuban music, Cape Verdean music and Latin Jazz to an exciting, irresistible blend. It’s debut CD Rikeza y Valor features top artists such as Brian Lynch, Dina Medina, Alberto Caicedo, Pepe Espinosa and many more.

CABOCUBAJAZZ – RIKEZA Y VALOR

January 2011 – the collaboration of the highly regarded percussionist Nils Fischer and the Cape Verdean master-pianist Carlos Matos leads into a completely new sound. Just take the melancholy of the Morna – the Cape Verdean blues - , the happy dance of the coladera, mix it with a huge portion of Cuban rumba, salsa en jazz: the result is 100% CaboCubaJazz! The listener and also the dancer is taken on a journey where longing, passion, subtleness and musical fire alternate.
Dina Medina is one of the internationally most reknown Cape Verdean singers of her generation; her brilliant voice is a perfect instrument to express the soul of her home islands. She adds a sparkling and sensitive yet powerful touch to CaboCubaJazz’s versatile music. Cuban drum-ace Armando Vidal and the Aruban bass virtuoso Reno Steba complete the working band.
On the CD one can enjoy Grammy winning trompeter Brian Lynch, the Cuban Pepe Espinosa, singers like Cape Verdean star Grace Évora, Colombian Alberto Caicedo and the new talent Laise Sanches.

The idea for the CD Rikeza y Valor came up during CaboCubaJazz’ successful tour in 2008/9.
The group continues it’s tour in 2010/11.
